9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, without defect in his generations. Noah walked with God. Genesis 06 : 09-09 (LEB)
Genesis 06 : 09-09 (lhb)
Noah's name is itself a play on words based on the comfort Yahweh receives from the "pleasing aroma" of sacrifice, that which is brought near.
"Noah walked with God." It seems that the ability to interact with Yahweh corporeally tends to be coupled with cleanness, or, un-blemished-ness. Blameless is an abstraction used in human instances of crimes/charges. But the word is used most frequently in the Torah for sacrificial animals, completely devoid of a criminal/judicial context. The reason Adam fled when he heard Yahweh walking (shame/broken command/ nakedness), is the opposite of the reason Noah was able to walked with and before God: He is righteous, but he is also blameless, a term associated with sacrifice and the ability of an animal to be brought before Yahweh.
